The German word "fast" translates into "almost" (the English word "fast" as in "speed" translates into the German word "schnell"). This means that all the junk food stores in Germany literally only almost serve food - or serve "almost food". Which is a pretty good description for the junk that one gets. Almost all food contains sugar which addicts to eat more of it. Cheese is not cheese but something else. Because that is not bad enough most food also contains glutamates to suppress the feeling of being full (like the opposite of being hungry as in "satisfied").
